One of only three universities in California that is NCAA-sanctioned for lacrosse, Dominican University of California's lacrosse program is traveling coast to coast to play top notch programs.

Webster has built the Penguins into a West Coast force to be recokned with. In 2012, Dominican led all of NCAA Division II in man-up offense (.458). In 2013, when the Penguins became the first team in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's three-year history to go through league play unscathed (6-0). Webster was named 2013 WILA Coach of the Year and the Penguins boasted the Offensive and Freshman Player of the Year in Cody Bernstein and Co-Defensive Player of the Year Sean Donohue.

Coach Webster comes from a family of successful lacrosse players: His father Mickey was a Hall of Fame attackman and National Champion at Johns Hopkins. His uncle Dick was All-American midfielder at Johns Hopkins. His brother Jim played attack at University of Virginia and his other brother John was an
All-American attackman and National Champion at the University of North Carolina. His cousin Mike was a National Champion and long stick midfielder at Johns Hopkins. His cousin Dave is head coach at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.

Webster was a star lacrosse player at Boys’ Latin School in Baltimore, Md. and turned to coaching after his senior year at Notre Dame due to career-ending knee injuries playing attack for the Fighting Irish.

After earning his BA in Communications from Notre Dame in 1999, Webster embarked on an eight-year coaching career that included stints as an assistant coach with the Wanneroo Lacrosse Club in Perth, Australia and with the San Francisco Dragons in Major League Lacrosse. Webster is also president of Webster Lacrosse Camps. He was married to his wife Megan, a Dominican graduate, in June of 2011.




Matt Blamey
Assistant Coach, Men's Lacrosse

Blamey came to Dominican from Sonoma State, where he served as the men’s lacrosse program’s defensive coordinator. Prior to relocating to California, Blamey was the founder and head coach of the Northern Virginia Community College Men’s Lacrosse Program (NOVA). Additionally, Blamey spent seven years as the head coach at South Lakes High School in Reston, Va., during which time Blamey was recognized twice as the Liberty District Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2008. In 2009, he had the honor of coaching South Lakes High School’s first-ever US Lacrosse High School All-America selection.??

Growing up playing defense in Northern Virginia, Blamey earned multiple MVP honors as a captain for Gar-Field High School. A four-year varsity player, Blamey was selected First Team All-Conference three of those years. He was a two-time Virginia Commonwealth Games starter and an All-Met nominee his senior year. After graduating in 1996, Blamey continued his playing career as a defender and long-stick midfielder with the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.??

Blamey is the former goalie for Team America, a post-collegiate men’s box lacrosse team in the Metro Area Box Lacrosse League. In 2008, Team America successfully captured the MABLL Senior A Championship.

Blamey resides with his wife and son in Cotati, Calif.



Christopher Dean

Assistant Coach, Men's Lacrosse

For nearly 20 years, Dean has been involved with coaching at all levels in Pennsylvania, Texas, and California. A former high school All-American in West Chester, Pa., Dean played lacrosse collegiately at Villanova University.

During the 2011 and 2012 seasons Dean was an assistant coach at Marin Academy, helping the Wildcats to a record of 31-8.  In 2011, Marin Academy earned a berth in the North Coast Section Division 2 Semi-Finals. In 2012, the Wildcats won the NCS Division 2 Championship.  After the 2011 season, Dean was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Northern California Chapter of US Lacrosse.

Dean and his wife, Stephie, have two children, Sydney and Owen, and live in Marin County.
