Dominican earns PacWest's Make-A-Wish Award

IRVINE, Calif. — The PacWest presented its annual community service awards during a dinner at the 2015 Executive Board Meetings in San Francisco last week. Dominican University of California shared the 2014-15 Make-A-Wish Award with Dixie State University.

Each Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) chapter submits a summary of its community services efforts from throughout the year and a panel of administrative representatives chooses the school(s) that contributed to the community in the most notable ways. The Make-A-Wish Award honors the schools that raise the most money in Make-A-Wish fundraising events during the school year. Dominican donated $8,077, one of the highest totals in PacWest history.

Dominican held several events throughout the year to raise the funds, in addition to having several opportunities around campus and at sporting events to make donations. Fundraisers included the annual "Mr. Penguin" male beauty pageant during the Week of Wishes, a pool party, and a home run derby.

Starts supporting Make-A-Wish were displayed in the lobby of the Conlan Center.
