NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Dominican University of California men's basketball player
Connor Haysbert has been named the Hawai'i Tourism Authority Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The award was for games played Feb. 3-9.
Haysbert has been a major catalyst in Dominican's current five game winning streak, leading the Penguins with 16.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 64 percent. His two 20-point performances have come in the last three games, all double-digit wins for Dominican. He recorded a double-double with 22 points, on 10-of-15 shooting, and 11 rebounds against Holy Name last week.
Additionally, Haysbert has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Team for District 8 (West Region) and has been nominated for 2014 Allstate NABC Good Works Team®.
Dominican will look to extend its winning streak to six games come Thursday, Feb. 13 vs. rival Notre Dame de Namur (6-14/5-9 PacWest). That is also Academic Night. Dominican President Mary Marcy will be in attendance as the program's four PacWest Academic Achievement Award banners are presented at halftime.
