Bratsberg, Herring, and Kimball Also Receive All-PacWest Honors

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Lauren Gollnick has been named the 2012 Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Freshman of the Year. In addition, Gollnick was named to the All-PacWest First Team as a forward. Senior forward Julianna Bratsberg and junior goalkeeper Megan Herring both earned Second Team honors while sophomore midfielder Mckenna Kimball earned an honorable mention. The awards were announced live on air during Thursday's PacWest Radio Show by Conference Sports Information Director Tom Di Camillo.

Gollnick, a native of Meadow Vista, Calif. who attended Del Oro High School, tied for the team lead in goals with seven. Her five assists gave her a team-high 19 points, both of which were fifth best in the PacWest. Gollnick was named PacWest
Player of the Week twice and was also named to the PacWest Fantastic 15 once during the season. Gollnick, who started all 17 games for the Lady Penguins, scored her first career goal, a 35-yard game-winner, on Sept. 25 in a 1-0 win over Holy Names and recorded her first career hat trick on Oct. 10 in a 3-1 victory over FPU.

Bratsberg, a Santa Rosa, Calif. native who attended Maria Carrillo High School, was fifth in PacWest action in points per game. She started and appeared in 16 games and tied for the team lead with seven goals. She added four assists for 18 points. Bratsberg was named to the PacWest Fantastic 15 three times in 2012. Bratsberg was named to the All-PacWest First Team as a midfielder in 2010 and is a two-time member of the PacWest Academic All-Conference Team.

Herring, also out of Santa Rosa, Calif. by way of Montgomery High School, led the PacWest with a .910 save percentage, which is currently the best among all NCAA Division II women's goalkeepers. Herring, who made 111 saves and recorded six shutouts, was named PacWest Goalkeeper of the Week once and was named to the PacWest Fantastic 15 four times.

Kimball, from Salt Lake City, Utah, made an instant impact for the Lady Penguins after transferring from the United States Air Force Academy. She started 16 games while tallying a goal and two assists.

"I'm very proud of these players. Lauren was fully deserving and other coaches took notice of her performance on the field," said Director of Soccer Jonathan Delano. "These players found success on the field because of their teammates and they share this honor with their team."

The Lady Penguins finished 2012 with an overall mark of 7-7-3 and 6-5-3 for seventh place out of 14 teams in PacWest play. Both marks were program bests since moving to the NCAA in 2009.
