Noisat Named to PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll for Fourth Time This Season

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The first week of the new year was a memorable one for Jacob Noisat.

The 6-foot-8 junior center for Dominican University of California was featured in a segment on KPIX-TV CBS 5 in San Francisco on Thursday, the same night he helped the Penguins defeat Dixie State, the second of back-to-back upset victories posted by Dominican in the opening week of Pacific West Conference play.

That effort won Noisat a spot today on the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll in men's basketball, the fourth time the Elsie Allen High School of Santa Rosa product has earned that honor. The announcement was made by the league's media office in Phoenix for games contested Jan. 2-8.

Noisat averaged 14 points and 7.7 rebounds a game to rank fifth in rebounding and tied for 10th in scoring for the week in the PacWest. He shot .615 (16 for 26) from the floor, 10th best in the league for the week.

The week began for Noisat on Tuesday when he scored a game-high 18 points with a game-high 12 rebounds in the Penguins' 72-62 triumph. Then, on Thursday, Noisat scored seven of his nine points in overtime when the Penguins beat Dixie State 73-72.

Dixie State and Grand Canyon tied for second in a PacWest preseason poll of league coaches. Dominican was picked to finish last in the league in that poll.

Noisat, a Humanities major, capped his week by helping Dominican rally from a 16-point first-half deficit against California Baptist on Saturday night. He scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the four-minute stretch in the second half, taking the Penguins from a five-point deficit to a four-point lead with four minutes to play.

Cal Baptist rallied to win the game in overtime, 72-62.

Noisat currently ranks 13th in the PacWest in scoring (11.5 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.9 pg), sixth in offensive rebounds (2.4 pg) and sixth in field goal percentage (.524).

The Penguins, 2-1 in league play, will travel to Phoenix on Tuesday to play Grand Canyon University on Wednesday in its new 5,000-seat arena. Game time is 5:30 p.m. Pacific time. Dominican then goes to Utah to play Dixie State on Friday.
