SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball lost another pair of Pacific West Conference games to Academy of Art University on Sunday, falling 9-0 and 2-1.

The Lady Penguins (2-24/2-20), playing as the home team on Sunday, spotted the Urban Knights (26-20-1/15-11) a two run lead in the first inning. Dominican allowed three more runs in the third, a run in the fifth, and three runs in the top of the seventh.  The Lady Penguins were limited to four hits and made four errors that resulted in three unearned runs.

Shawna Robb looked sharp in game two, needing just eighty pitches to get through seven innings. She allowed just four hits, two walks, and two runs, one earned. She didn't get much run support though, as the Lady Penguins scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the fifth when Alisha McKnight doubled to drive in Robb all the way from first base.

Robb didn't get the shutout inning she needed in the sixth though. A defensive error to start the inning opened the door for the Urban Knights, as Julie Martin reached base, was moved over, stole third and scored on Andrea Hanchey's squeeze bunt single. Sierrah Garcia drove in the winning run on a 1-2 hit to left field. The next six Lady Penguins were retired to end the ballgame.

Robb and Molly Howard each had two hits on the day.

Dominican will look to bounce back from the weekend losses to AAU when Dixie State College comes calling on Wednesday, April 21 and Thurdsday, April 22 for a pair of PacWest doubleheaders. First pitch for both days is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at McInnis Park in San Rafael.
