Three Players End Season on PacWest Weekly Honor Rolls

PHOENIX, AZ — Three Dominican University of California basketball players were named to the final women's and men's basketball Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Rolls. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, March 8, for games contested March 1-7.

Women's basketball senior Alisha Flaaten was named to the women's PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll after lifting the Lady Penguins to a 2-0 week. She averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 assists per game. The Hayward, Calif. native ranked second in scoring and tied for fourth in assist average in the conference for the week. The 5-foot-6 guard was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line. She also led the PacWest in three-pointers made per game (4.5) and ranked 10th in three-point shooting (.450) after connecting on 9-of-20 attempts.

Flaaten finished the season fifth in scoring in the PacWest (14.6 ppg) and led all players with 46 three-pointers made (2.9/game). She ends her career as Dominican's all-time leading women's basketball scorer with 1,565 points.

Men's senior guard Alastair Flack was named to the men's basketball PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for the second straight week after ranking ninth in scoring average (14.0) during the week. He tied for sixth in assists per contest (3.5) and ranked third in steals per game (3.0) in his final two games for the Penguins. The Melbourne, Australia native tied for fifth in foul shooting (.875) for the week after making 7-of-8 attempts.

Flack was second in the PacWest in free throw percentage this season behind teammate Austin Bryan, going 43-of-48 (.896).

Sophomore guard Xander McNally earned a place next to Flack on the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll by leading the Penguins to a 1-1 week and averaging 13.5 points and shooting 11-of-18 (.611) from the field. The San Francisco native ranked ninth in shooting and tied for 11th in scoring for the week in the PacWest. He also averaged two steals per game and made 2-of-5 three-point attempts (.400). He tied for second in assist/turnover ratio (3.3).

McNally finishes his season ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage, going 54-of-88 (.614), and second in the PacWest with 38 steals (2.5/game). He was tied for fourth in assists with 61 (4.1/game). His 1.2 assist-to-turnover ratio was seventh best.

Both teams wrapped up theirs first season in Division II PacWest competition with wins over Chaminade. The Dominican women end with a 7-20 overall mark and an eighth place 4-12 PacWest finish while the Dominican men finished 10-17 overall and tied for fifth out of nine teams with a conference record of 7-9.
