Xander McNally earned a place on the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll after the Penguins notched their first PacWest victory.
PHOENIX, AZ — The Pacific West Conference Media Office in Phoenix, AZ announced the PacWest Men's Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Rolls on Monday, Jan. 18, for games contested Jan. 11-17. Dominican University of California's
Austin Bryan and
Xander McNally were both named to the list.
Bryan, a 6-4 freshman guard from Wenatchee, Wash., helped lead the Penguins to their first PacWest Conference victory in school history on Jan. 14, a 68-59 win over Grand Canyon. He scored 17 points on 7-of-14 (.500) shooting and added two blocks, two steals, and a pair of three-pointers. Bryan currently ranks third in scoring among PacWest players with 17.3 points per game. He is also in the top five in steals (1.9) and free throw percentage (.808), three-point field goals made (1.8), three-point percentage (.397), and blocked shots (1.1).
In the same game, McNallly, a sophomore guard who played prep ball at the nearby Branson School, tallied 11 points, five assists, five steals, and shot 83.3% (5-of-6) from the free throw line. McNallly led the PacWest in steal average for the week, tied for third in assist average, and shot 60 percent (3-of -5) from the floor. McNally ranks third in the PacWest with 5.4 assists per game and is tops in steals with 3.6.
The Dominican men face San Francisco's Academy of Art, who is yet to win a game this season. The game, originally designated a home game for the Penguins, will now be a home game for AAU and will be played at the famous Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
