SAN JOSE Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team was extremely shorthanded on Friday due to injury, having only one substitute available to them. Despite the hardship, Ned Webster's Penguins mustered a 14-11 victory over the San Jose State Spartans.

Nic Pickell 11 saves bolstered the defense, who worked hard for every stop. Pickell also found himself on the offensive end, adding a goal and an assist as the Penguins found themselves in many different roles during the course of the game.

Webster said of his ailing team's performance, “With several guys injured, we had to improvise and be creative. It wasn't our prettiest game, but I will say it's a good thing the 11 we had today are so versatile and resilient.”
With the win, Dominican improves to 5-6 while San Jose State falls to 2-6. The Penguins will look to climb back to the .500 mark on Thursday, April 9 as they make the trek to Humboldt State University. Faceoff is set for under the lights at 7:00 p.m.
