SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's lacrosse team cruised to an easy 16-0 victory on Sunday afternoon against the University of Nevada, Reno. Sophomore Emmett Faricy got the Penguins on the board two minutes into play as the Penguins jumped out ot a 5-0 lead in the first quarter.  By halftime, the Penguins built an 8-0 lead.  Freshman middie Reed Upson netted two of four Penguin goals in the third quarter and Dominican added another four goals in the final quarter to polish off the 16-0 victory.

Upson led all players with 4 goals and 4 assists. Junior captain Lawrence Nardi added 4 goals and an assist. Faricy, freshman middie Corey Botwinick, and freshman middie Matt Polizzi each added two goals apiece. Freshman middie Bosué Quinonez added a goal and freshman defnsemen Geraldo Gonzalez added his first goal of the season.

Freshman goalie Nic Pickell (pictured, no. 15) was solid defensively, saving 11 shot attempts.

"In previous games against solid NCAA competition, the playing field has felt like a billiards table that someone was lifting at one end and all the balls were rolling down to our defensive end," said Dominican head coach Ned Webster. "Today we were the ones lifting the table, and it all started with Polizzi and the others at the faceoff square. Plus, Pickell and our defense clearing the ball 97 percent helped the feel. Today was our most complete game to date.”

With the win, Dominican snaps a two game losing streak and improves to 4-6. The Penguins will next be in action against San Jose State University on Saturday, April 4. Faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
