Pecora earns Weekly Top 10 Volleyball Honor

PHOENIX, AZ - The Pacific West Conference Volleyball Top 10 Weekly Honor Roll was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Nov. 16, for matches contested from Nov. 9-15.

Dominican University of California senior outside hitter Gabby Pecora earned a place on the list for the seventh time during the 2009 campaign. The Sonoma native ranked eighth for the week in kills per game (3.38), totaled 27 kills, an ace and a block solo for 29 points. Pecora ranked ninth for the week in scoring average (3.62).

Pecora finishes her senior campaign with 388 kills, an average of 3.66 kills per set. She had a hitting percentage of .187 and added 28 service aces on the season.

The 388 kills is the most in a season for Pecora and brings her career total to 1037 on 3015 swings (.221).  She recorded 114 service aces in her four years as a Lady Penguin.

The Lady Penguins concluded the 2009 season on Nov. 14 with a loss to Grand Canyon University. The 2009 season included a number of firsts for Dominican volleyball, including the program's first win as a Division II program with a five-set win against Humboldt State on Aug. 28 and the program's first PacWest Conference win with a sweep of Academy of Art University on September 18.
