Second half goal downs Lady Penguins in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team lost a close match 1-0 to Grand Canyon University in Pacific West Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

Dominican (7-9-3/5-6-2) held GCU (8-8-2/5-5-2) scoreless in the first half, as Alicia Paulsen made three saves. GCU picked up the pace in the second half, firing off seven shots. The Antelopes netted the game winner against Paulsen in the 59th minute when CGU's Sasha Scott headed the ball in.

Dominican was held to four shots on goal, twice per half while GCU took 12 shots, seven on frame. Alex Moran led Dominican with two shots, one which was on goal.

The Lady Penguins finish the season with a match at Dixie State College in Utah on Nov. 3. Kickoff is set for 4:30/3:30 Pacific.
