Men's Soccer unable to get out of early hole at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, AZ — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team fell behind early and never recovered against Grand Canyon University on Saturday, losing 4-0 in Pacific West Conference play.

First place GCU (13-3-2/10-1-1) scored in the match's first ten minutes off a header. The Antelopes added a second goal just seven minutes later and added a goal late in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

GCU posted a fourth goal in the 73 minute en route to the 4-0 victory.

Dominican was limited to four shots, three on goal, while the Antelopes rattled off 15 shots, eight of which were on target. Tim Pinella led the Penguins with two shots on goal.

The Dominican men conclude their first year as a member of the PacWest with a match at Dixie State College of Utah on Nov. 3.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00/6:00 p.m
