The Lady Penguins, who are making the transition from NAIA Division II to NCAA Division II and the Pacific West Conference, opened the season against a tough CCAA squad picked to finish second their in the Division II conference.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball fell in five sets to visiting Grand Canyon University on Friday night, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 8-15.

The Lady Penguins (6-23/1-14) got out to a terrific start, almost taking the first set wire-to-wire until point 23, when the Antelopes caught up to tie the score. However, two GCU (20-8/9-6) attack errors gave the first set to Dominican.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's basketball team was simply outmatched on Tuesday night in a lopsided 126-74 exhibition loss to NCAA D-I Sacramento State.

The Hornets began the game's first 4:29 of play by shutting down Dominican and jumping out to a 20-0 lead. Sac State never looked back, extending the halftime lead to 64-32.
